Spencer and Family

Spencer and Elizabeth and Meredith, could hardly find a cuter family anywhere.
Meredith on her own, getting ready to go out for the day.

See, we were really there in Virginia.   Elizabeth was kind enough to take a picture of us.

Trip to Virginia Gettysburg

Here we are in Gettysburg, This is a Union General,  Didn't write down his name, but he is surveying the land to the west of Little Round Top.  We had thought spring had come, some of the trees were blossoming, but the wind was cold.   In the distance you can see Devils Den, and the Slaughter house.    Was a horrible day that the battle took place.   Many men from both sides were killed.
We thought this kind of interesting.  Sykes Avenue, wonder if there is any relationship with our Sykes in Portsmouth.   Was an area that was defended by a regiment from Maine.   They were told to defend with all Hazard,   meaning, they were to fight to the death.   They were successful and defended their area and saved the day for the Union.

The tree that made us think it was warm out.   I suppose it would have been, except for the WIND.   There seems to be monuments every where.   Every group  who was in the battle later put up a monument.
This is the place where Pickets Charge happened.  Pickett was a Confederate, ahd had been ordered to charge the Union lines.

they charged into these union guns, and lost.   this was as far north as the Confederate got in their fight.   You can see the monuments. they are all over the battlefields.

Boston travels

This is an additional pictures of our new bedroom, here you can see the red Ceiling,   I think it looks great.   A nice warm cozy den for us to hide away in when the weather gets cold.
We had an adventure  in Boston a couple of weeks ago, we went to the Historical Genealogical Library.  I was amazed at how much information is packed in there.  The building itself was interesting.   After that we went up to the "Old North Church"   You know, the one where Paul Revere hung his lanterns.   "One if by land, and 2 if by sea, and I on the opposite shore will be..."
Here is a statue of Paul Revere, all ready to ride to warn the towns that the British were coming.
Here is the Old North Church, set right in the middle of Boston's North end.   Was an adventure to walk around there.   The HISGEN is doing a project on the people who worshiped at the church, tracing who they were, where they came from and where they went.   We have no one who even lived in Boston at the time of the Revolution, but it is interesting anyway.
From the old to the new.   this is the famed Zakim bridge built during the big Dig.   It is the widest bridge of its kind in the world.  And quite beautiful to look at too.  It I turned around, i would be facing the church
