Here we are in Gettysburg, This is a Union General, Didn't write down his name, but he is surveying the land to the west of Little Round Top. We had thought spring had come, some of the trees were blossoming, but the wind was cold. In the distance you can see Devils Den, and the Slaughter house. Was a horrible day that the battle took place. Many men from both sides were killed.
We thought this kind of interesting. Sykes Avenue, wonder if there is any relationship with our Sykes in Portsmouth. Was an area that was defended by a regiment from Maine. They were told to defend with all Hazard, meaning, they were to fight to the death. They were successful and defended their area and saved the day for the Union.
The tree that made us think it was warm out. I suppose it would have been, except for the WIND. There seems to be monuments every where. Every group who was in the battle later put up a monument.
This is the place where Pickets Charge happened. Pickett was a Confederate, ahd had been ordered to charge the Union lines.
they charged into these union guns, and lost. this was as far north as the Confederate got in their fight. You can see the monuments. they are all over the battlefields.
